Don't Stay On the Waitlist for Uggs—Try These Dupes Instead

Uggs have been one of the most iconic (and slightly controversial) boots on the cozy footwear scene for decades. They’re warm, comfy, easy to throw on—and expensive.

Unlike when I first asked for a pair of the fuzzy “hooves” in middle school, there are now dozens of similar styles out there that actually look and feel as good as the OGs. To save you some serious scrolling, the SELF team tested a bunch of pairs (twist our arms!) to find the best Ugg dupes from brands like Steve Madden, Quince, and more. First, we hunted down some Ugg look-a-likes in different styles (like the Tazz Platform Slipper, the Ultra Mini Boot, and the Scuffette II Slipper, to name a few) from top brands. Then, we put them through their paces. For weeks, we wore them to work, out with friends, around the house, and pretty much everywhere else. Then we noted how warm, plush, and comfortable they are, compared to Uggs—and only the true winners earned a spot on this list.

We’re off to a good start: “These are almost an exact replica of the Ugg Tazz clogs I’ve been seeing everywhere!” our tester says. They’re made with a warm faux fur lining, which is just as plush as Ugg’s real shearling.

Despite their thick, 1.5-inch platform, these slippers are pretty lightweight: “After getting used to them a bit, I didn’t feel like I was clunking around as much as I’d have thought, based on looking at them,” our tester says. “If you’re going for the chunky, fuzzy clog look, these are a great bet.”

These cutie slides have become one SELF tester’s go-to house shoes. “My apartment is mostly hardwood and tile floors, and I’ve never slipped in them once,” she says. While we like the trim on Steve Madden’s Tazz dupe more, this pair from Bearpaw comes in more colors, so they’re worth checking out if you’re looking for shades beyond brown and black.

Another pro? The price. “I was shocked that they’re only about $70,” our tester says. “I think they’re very cute and could totally pass for Uggs in the wild!” Note: This pair doesn’t come in half sizes, but our tester—who usually wears a size 6.5—sized up to a 7 and found her perfect fit.

SELF’s editor in chief is now a fuzzy boot convert after trying these Neumel dupes. “I have never worn an Ugg boot in my life, but this pair made me understand the appeal,” she says. “They’re so warm, and my feet feel like they are wrapped in a blanket.”

These booties took a beating during testing, but really came in clutch during her daily trek to the office on frigid days. “My toes were freezing at the start of my commute—but five minutes into my walk, my toes started rubbing against the shearling and warmth was restored!” she says.

After our tester tried these Dearfoams, I finally understand why I keep seeing them everywhere: “I absolutely LOVE these booties. I have literally found a way to wear them every single day since I got them,” she says. “They’re so cushy, comfy, and super warm. They are also such a cute color (I got the Lilac) and I couldn’t be more obsessed!” Case closed.

“These are basically the expensive name brand without the name!” one wrote. “I wear them all the time. They’re super comfortable and warm.”

Just like Uggs’ Classic Mini, these Emu boots have exposed stitching and a suede panel on the heel that’s a slightly different color for some extra style points. The outsole is grippy and grooved, while the upper is made of water-resistant sheepskin, so a little rain won’t ruin your day—just don’t go jumping in any puddles. We have to give a shout-out to these Ugg Scuffette twins. They come in a ton of colors and prints—some of which are also available in a platform style—and they have almost 14,000 five-star reviews on Amazon from happy shoppers. “I tried them on and instantly fell in love with this brand,” one reviewer wrote. “They are like walking on a cloud!” We’re confident these will be your new favorite shoes to shuffle around the house in—you can even wear them out to get the mail, since the durable sole is made for both.
